Career Opportunities

Graduates of the marriage and family therapy master’s program are hired as family therapists in a variety of settings, including traditional mental health agencies, hospitals, schools, private practice, departments of social services, and foster care and adoptive agencies.

Graduates of the doctoral program are hired as faculty in both accredited marriage and family therapy programs and academic departments offering family therapy courses. They may also pursue careers as research associates, directors of programs in mental health and social service agencies, or therapist trainers in clinical settings.

Career resources for students are available in the College of Human Services and Health Professions Career and Professional Development Center.
