Child and Family Studies
The Department of Child and Family Studies offers a bachelor of science (B.S.), a master of arts (M.A.), a master of science (M.S.), an a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in child and family studies. Students gain a broad knowledge of issues affecting child development and the family unit and prepare to work closely with children and families in diverse settings. They also gain hands-on experience through internships at various organizations in the Syracuse area, or at the Bernice M. Wright Child Development Laboratory School, located on the University's South Campus. Graduates of the program work in areas such as youth counseling, community service, child welfare, early childhood education, and health care, and in residential treatment programs.

Marriage and Family Therapy
The Department of Marriage and Family Therapy offers a master of arts (M.A.) and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in marriage and family therapy. Students gain a solid knowledge of marriage and family therapy theory and techniques and extensive hands-on training, both at the Goldberg Couple and Family Therapy Center, an on-campus clinical training and research facility, and at local sites. Graduates of the program work as therapists in academic or research settings, or in private practice.

Health and Wellness
The Department of Health and Wellness offers a bachelor of science (B.S.) in health and wellness. Students prepare to pursue careers or graduate study in the areas of community health education, health promotion, and other health-related fields. They learn about health issues among diverse populations; factors influencing the health of individuals, families, and communities; health literacy; and cultural competence, with a predominant focus on health promotion. They gain a solid foundation for careers in traditional health settings such as hospitals, private medical offices, or public health agencies, as well as in newly emerging preventive health services in corporate wellness centers, college health services, insurance agencies, or pharmaceutical companies.

Hospitality and Food Service Management
The Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management offers a bachelor of science (B.S.) in hospitality management. Students prepare for management careers in a wide variety of hospitality operations, including restaurants, hotels, airlines, catering, educational and health care facilities, sports arenas, and in private, franchise, and corporate environments. They gain hands-on experience through internships at local sites, including the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center, located on the edge of campus.

Nutrition
The Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management offers bachelor of science (B.S.) programs in nutrition/dietetics and nutrition science, and a master of arts (M.A.) and master of science (M.S.) in nutrition.

At the undergraduate level, students in nutrition/dietetics prepare to work in a variety of health and health promotion fields, many as registered dietitians. In nutrition science, students study the biological and physical sciences, and prepare to work for major food or pharmaceutical companies, or to pursue post-graduate work in medicine, dentistry, or education.

At the graduate level, students study the theory and application of nutrition science and prepare for research, teaching, or practice in clinical, community, corporate, government, or educational settings.

Graduates of the nutrition programs work in traditional settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and health clinics, as well as in non-traditional settings such as journalism, business, marketing, sales, and public relations.

Social Work
The School of Social work offers a bachelor of science (B.S.) in social work and a master of social work (M.S.W.). Students prepare to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities in today's diverse society. They gain hands-on experience through an extensive field placement program, which allows them to intern in local human service agencies. Graduates pursue careers in such areas as child welfare, substance abuse counseling, health care, public policy, industry and business, school social work, gerontology, and mental health services, among others.

Sport Management
The Sport Management Program leads to a bachelor of science (B.S.) in sport management. Students prepare for a wide variety of career options in one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S., focusing on such areas as athlete development, counseling, and advising; sport marketing and promotion; sport product, equipment, and apparel marketing; sport events planning; arena management; “sport-themed” hospitality; and related sport fields. The required internship gives students a chance to work with professionals and test their skills.
