About the Department of Nutrition Science and Dietetics
Nutrition Science and Dietetics offers bachelor of science (B.S.) degrees in nutrition dietetics and nutrition science, and master of arts (M.A.) and master of science (M.S.) degrees in nutrition. Students in the department learn the science of applying food and good nutrition to health. The department’s programs are accredited by the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education.

Professor Horacek leads Florence study-abroad program
NSD Graduate Student Ting Ma Volunteers in Rural China
Ting Ma, a graduate student in nutrition science and dietetics, conducted presentations about nutrition for young children in China this summer, teaching them interesting facts about some common fruits, the benefits of vegetables, and special aspects of Hunan food culture, which is famous for its spicy food.

SU Nutrition Students Excel Academically
For years, SU Nutrition students have exceeded the national match success rate
The national match rate for students seeking a required internship to be eligible to take the exam to become a registered dietician is 55 percent. For Syracuse University students in the Department of Nutrition Science and Dietetics, their match rate far exceeds the national average at 88 percent. Additionally, SU’s accredited internship program graduated 10 interns in April, 2009. All 10 found full-time employment within three weeks of program completion.
SU’s Dietetic Internship Class of 2008-2009 had a 100 percent pass rate for the registered dietitian exam.
