About the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy
Marriage and Family Therapy offers master of arts (M.A.) and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in marriage and family therapy. Students gain a solid knowledge of marriage and family therapy theory and techniques. Students get extensive hands-on training, both at the Goldberg Couple and Family Therapy Center, an on-campus clinical training and research facility, and at local community sites.

MFT's In-House Goldberg Couple & Family Therapy Center
Marriage and family therapy students gain clinical experience counseling members of the Syracuse community
Marriage and family therapy (MFT) students gain hands-on experience in the Goldberg Couple and Family Therapy Center. Located on the Syracuse University campus in the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy, the Center was established in 1989, serving as a teaching and research center for MFT master’s and doctoral students. Students utilize the center to gain clinical experience. Individual, group, couples and family therapy is offered to members of the Syracuse community under the supervision of the clinical faculty who operate from a family systems perspective. The Center is equipped for live and videotaped supervision.
