Experience in Event Planning
Students gain valuable experience volunteering at the International Sporthorse Tournament
Students in the Department of Hospitality Management gained valuable event planning experience volunteering at the 125th Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament. The tournament is a national event and features well-known equestrians including Olympic gold medalist, Beezie Madden. Students assisted with set up, guest relations, decor and design. The National Horseshow Competition, a part of the tournament was featured on The Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet.
HPM Student Honored by NYS Hospitality & Tourism Association
Joshua Schwartz awarded hospitality scholarship for academic excellence
HPM junior, Joshua Schwartz, was awarded a student scholarship by the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association’s (NYSH&TA) Education Foundation, which was presented in August at the Association’s Saratoga Summer Fundraiser at the Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Springs, NY. Schwartz is majoring in Hospitality & Food Service Management, is employed at the Renaissance Syracuse as a greeter / bellman, is president of the Syracuse University Hotel and Lodging Association and has interned at the Residence Inn Marriott. He is a resident of Windsor, NY.
