Welcome to the Department of Child and Family Studies

Child and Family Studies offers bachelor of science (B.S.), master of arts (M.A.), master of science (M.S.), and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in child and family studies. Students gain a broad knowledge of issues affecting child development and the family unit preparing to work closely with children and families in diverse settings.

Students in the Department of Child and Family Studies gain hands on experience in the Bernice M. Wright Child Development Laboratory School

Bernice M. Wright is located on the SU campus and is a high-quality inclusive early childhood education program accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Students gain specialized training working with children and their families where they learn about curriculum development and receive practical training in child development and early childhood education.
